I walked through the front door of Fisks Canvey office in 1965 and never left. My involvement in Estate Agency has been consistent throughout my life. Although in the 1980s and 90s I occupied a senior role in the NAEA representing this professional body and chairing the Parliamentary Committees at the time of HIPs and subsequently, the role of the internet in property sales. The contact made here led to promoting the Association abroad and gave me the opportunity of looking at how sales are conducted in the USA and the Southern Hemisphere and how we can learn from these countries. I took the best ideas and implemented them in Fisks.
At this time I was writing a column for an industry trade newspaper and speaking at events in both the UK and abroad. The NAEA (which became PropertyMark) awarded me with an Honoured Fellowship and in 2007 the industry awarded me with the prestigious title of Estate Agent of the year.
Outside of Fisks, I also ran a successful house building and construction company, retiring from this at the turn of the century. Other outside experience includes a spell as a local Councillor representing Canvey Island on Castle Point Borough Council for a four year term from 1976.
